Description

Provides training to help adults who interact with children better understand the risks and benefits of the use of technology by children. Screen time and effects of technology on early brain development are discussed. Discussion also includes the major risks to children using technology, such as cyber-bullying, exposure to pornography, online gaming, and "sexting." Tools will be provided to identify options to help protect children from harmful messaging.

Prevent Child Abuse Vermont, a statewide non-profit child abuse prevention organization, provides child abuse prevention information; offers educational courses and support groups for parents; child abuse prevention workshops for professionals; and Shaken Baby Syndrome Prevention training. Prevent Child Abuse Vermont publishes The Vermont Parents' Home Companion and Resource Directory, a guide to child development and a directory of child and family services organizations in Vermont.
