Advocates for public policies that promote the well-being of children, youth, and their families. Provides periodic e-newsletters, issue briefs, data reports, fact sheets, and legislative agendas to educate the public on issues affecting Vermont's children and youth.

Offers a variety of educational presentations and professional development workshops around LGBTQ+ affirming practices to middle school, high school, and college staff and students, as well as to service providers. In addition, offers online education modules, included in trainings and available for individuals. Provides support for Gender and Sexuality Alliance groups, facilitates Vermont's Gender and Sexuality Alliance Network, and hosts an annual statewide Queer and Allied Youth Summit. Workshops can be tailored for any audience.

Provides technical assistance on disability rights and policies to individuals, organizations, state agencies, and advocacy groups. Supports community education and statewide advocacy efforts on disability-related issues.

Provides case management services, connects newcomers with community volunteers and organizations, and assists with various resettlement tasks, including housing, education, employment, healthcare, and cultural adaptation.

Educates Vermonters about end-of-life options, including medical aid in dying under Vermont's Act 39. This law enables mentally competent adult Vermont residents who have a terminal illness with 6 months or less to live with the option of requesting medical aid in dying. Provides advice and assistance to both doctors and patients. Offers online and printed materials that include A Vermonter's Guide to End-of-Life Decision-Making as well as a Pocket Guide to Medical Decision-Making and provides suggestions for patients on how to talk to their doctor. Also advocates to influence policy, regulations, and practices that affect the terminally ill.

Investigates claims of unlawful discrimination in housing, places of public accommodation, and state government employment. A place of public accommodation is any school, restaurant, store, establishment or other facility at which services, facilities, goods, privileges, advantages, benefits or accommodations are offered to the general public. This also includes most hospitals, professional offices (such as doctors, dentists, lawyers, and accountants), retail stores, inns, hotels, and schools. The Commission does not represent or advocate for either the individual who makes the complaint (complaintant) or the individual or entity against whom a petition is filed (respondent). If the Commission accepts a case for investigation, it may provide an independent mediator to seek an informal resolution to the dispute. If mediation does not result in a mutually agreed upon resolution, a member of the Commission's staff will investigate. The Commission does not provide legal advice. The complaintant and respondent may have attorneys to advise and represent them throughout the process, but an attorney is not required.

Acts as fiscal agent and provides services such as fiscal sponsorship, publicity, meeting space, and more to small social justice organizations whose missions align with that of the Peace & Justice Center (PJC).

Provides legal and supportive services including legal consultations and representation in court. Representation is provided for relief-from-abuse hearings, divorce, parentage issues, child support and custody issues, visitation issues, and Guardian ad Litem services in Family Court. Transportation is provided to court hearings, social service appointments, and supervised visits for children. Services also include a life skills and mentoring support group, Women in Transition, to help women build new lives for themselves and their children. Supports the passage and enforcement of laws and other social measures that protect and promote the rights and interests of women.

Maintains contact information about crime victim advocates' offices located throughout Vermont's 14 counties. Provides a variety of supportive services for victims of crimes and their families which may include general emotional support, information about police investigative procedures, and information on the status of court cases and proceedings. Victim Advocates guide victims through the criminal justice process and serve as a liaison with the State's Attorneys and other criminal justice agencies. Advocates notify victims of hearings, prepare victims to testify, and assist victims with applications for Victims Compensation. They also assist with completing Victim Impact Statements, requesting restitution, and requesting notification of their offender's release.

Provides information about the American Disabilities Act. Operates a confidential, national ADA helpline and provides an online library of Federal ADA and Disability Resources. Enforces compliance with the ADA and offers technical assistance to ensure compliance with the ADA.
