Provides information, advice and advocacy to patients voluntarily admitted to inpatient psychiatric facilities or who are held on an involuntary 72-hour hold as part of an Emergency Examination. Offers outreach to individuals with mental health issues at designated hospitals and emergency departments. Investigates cases of serious abuse, neglect, and violation of rights against persons with mental illness who may not otherwise have access to Disability Rights Vermont services.

Provides funding which includes assistance for utility shut-offs, security deposits, back rent, fuel assistance, car repairs for vehicles needed for work and/or medical appointments and livability-related home repairs for veterans who are homeowners. Other services include individual advocacy, information about other service providers, connecting combat veterans with PTSD to services, as well as helping to obtain a service animal.

Provides support to disabled American veterans, including assistance with applying for disability benefits, health care, death benefits, vocational rehabilitation and employment, education, discharges, and military records. Also provides transportation to medical appointments.

Provides outreach to victims of crime with community-based emotional support and resource navigation. Offers outreach to victims of low-level crimes for a restorative response. Victims in these cases are contacted and offered ways to participate in whatever way is comfortable for them. Offers options for victims to meet with those who have offended against them to ask questions and talk about the impact of the incident on themselves and others.

Provides social services that include Information and Referral for families who are separated and/or have relocated, and Emergency Communication Services that, in family emergency cases such as critical accident, illness or death, will verify the situation and relay an emergency leave request to military authorities. Provides Health and Wellness Inquiries Services that allow for worldwide communications to report on the welfare of a service member.

Addresses a wide range of issues that deal with the length and conditions of imprisonment and community supervision for individuals serving sentences. Issues include appeals, furlough, parole and supervised community sentence, health care, prison discipline, and sentence calculation.

Answers questions about federal agencies and provides help with resolving a problem with such agencies, including the Social Security Administration, the Immigration and Naturalization Service, Internal Revenue Offers help resolving problems with Social Security, Immigration, IRS, and other federal agencies. Assists with service academy nominations. Provides help with federal grant searches, US flags, and visits to the Capitol and White House.

Maintains contact information about crime victim advocates' offices located throughout Vermont's 14 counties. Provides a variety of supportive services for victims of crimes and their families which may include general emotional support, information about police investigative procedures, and information on the status of court cases and proceedings. Victim Advocates guide victims through the criminal justice process and serve as a liaison with the State's Attorneys and other criminal justice agencies. Advocates notify victims of hearings, prepare victims to testify, and assist victims with applications for Victims Compensation. They also assist with completing Victim Impact Statements, requesting restitution, and requesting notification of their offender's release.
